About 1 hour south of Glenwood. Great hiking, picture taking and picnicking at the lake. Gall colors are breathtaking. You’re at high altitude - so make sure to hydrate!

Aspen is a 4 hour drive from Denver. I would go in late September or early October to see the foliage in Maroon Bells. Stay in Aspen or Snowmass Village and explore the John Denver Sanctuary and many beautiful hiking trails.

Located 10 miles from Aspen up Maroon Creek Road, the Maroon Bells are not to be missed during a visit to Aspen and are sure to be a highlight of your trip. The most popular viewpoint is from the shores of Maroon Lake, a pristine alpine lake enveloped by fields of wildflowers. There are several ways to enjoy beyond this scenic area.
