We believe that even the most beautifully prepared meal can't be fully appreciated until people gather to enjoy it - Common Lot is a place for family and friends to gather and share great food and conversation. The restaurant is elegant but unpretentious, creating a minimalist but convivial environment. Seating options are the main dining room, with its view to the buzz of the open kitchen; the upstairs Chef's Library, featuring Chef Ehren’s extensive collection of cookbooks; or the four-seat “Kitchen Pass” with its intimate perspective on meal preparation and offering a unique tasting menu (note Kitchen pass reservations are only by phone or email, and 48 hours notice is required for specific dietary requirements). Common Lot's food is contemporary and globally inspired. It reflects Ehren and Nadine's international experience, training and dedication to the craft of cooking, hospitality and service: seasonal flavors, locally foraged produce and fresh ingredients made with exceptional care and resulting in cosmopolitan dishes. Executive Chef and Owner, Ehren Ryan, grew up in Australia but has also lived in India, The Philippines, Hong Kong, Canada, The Channel Islands, Austria, England and now the USA. He apprenticed under Matt Moran, one of Australia's most successful chefs before honing his skills in some highly successful, and tough, Michelin-starred restaurants in Europe. These included Pierre Gagnaire's London establishment The Lecture Room, Heston Blumenthal's Dinner by Heston, the Atlantic Hotel in Jersey, as well as the Hotel Kristiania in Lech am Arlberg Austria and as Head Chef at the Cottage Point Inn in Sydney Australia. This international experience has greatly influenced his sense of culinary adventure and style which he brings to his first restaurant, Common Lot. Manager and Owner, Nadine Ryan, grew up in Austria but has lived abroad and travelled extensively including Switzerland, South Africa, England, The Channel Islands, Australia, Thailand, Indonesia and now the USA. Nadine studied front-of house restaurant management at the Hotel Management School in Bludenz, Austria where she learned European restaurant fine dining service and received certification as a Cheese Sommelier. Nadine is passionate about teas and the art of tea-making and you will see this reflected in Common Lot's extensive tea menu. While Nadine's background is traditional fine-dining, she is committed to delivering the concepts of great service in a more relaxed and accessible environment. Restaurant Manager, James Latz, is a fourth-generation hospitality professional who brings many years of fine dining management experience to Common Lot, having worked throughout New Jersey and New York. James not only manages the front of house operations with a passion for delivering the best guest experience, James is also the best person to assist you with planning your perfect private event at Common Lot. Sous Chef, Michael Martello Jr, is a life long resident of New Jersey who began his culinary career at the International Culinary Center in New York City, NY, where he graduated top of his class. Michael brings a keen sense of culinary adventure and style to Common Lot having spent considerable time staging in Scandinavia at Restaurant Noma, owned and operated by Chef Rene Redzepi, and at restaurant 108 studying under Chef Kristian Baumann. Michael is also passionate about foraging and encourages all the chefs to explore and understand the bounty of produce available in New Jersey
