The largest and oldest market in town - Mercardo Benito Juarez is a great place to visit for textiles, food, spices, crafts, ceramics and flowers. We always recommend a visit this the heart of Centro.

This market is in the center of the downtown area. It has most everything and a very neat experience. The colectivos run circuits to the market (mercado) and back from most areas of town. Great veggies and flowers. Meat, fish, clothing and gifts. Also a variety of foods.

Great place to go for textiles, food, spices, crafts, ceramics, scents, flowers and flavors. Haircuts too. We always take first-timers to this wonderful treat.

The Benito Juarez Mercado offers something for every sense! Row upon row of stalls offer vibrant fruits and vegetables, freshly baked breads, a wide variety of fresh meats, clay pottery, aromatic floral arrangements and many other unique souvenirs. Here you can purchase local Oaxacan chocolate and even a Molinillio which is used to froth this rich chocolate into a delicious hot chocolate beverage. There are an endless array of stalls selling freshly made juices and many breakfast/lunch options. There is something unique around each corner. It is truly an experience for first time visitors to Puerto.

A place to visit in the morning.. Local fruits,vegetables,fish,meats,pottery and flowers. Also lots of options to eat. Best to come in the morning,do some shopping or just get the experience of this great market and have breakfast. Inexpensive excellent breakfasts and juices.
