Approx. 10 mins drive, south around the lake. Pelican is a suburb of Lake Macquarie. It is on the Swansea Channel and has a lovely grassed area, enclosed playground and a variety of small sandy bay like spaces for sand play and paddling. Be aware... tide is strong in channel so stay in little bays. Boat ramp. Markets here on various weekends.
