The Alchemist Bar

This is a street-level open air food court and bar that serves street food from the trucks and stalls. Inside, an old London bus is the backdrop of the stage where musicians perform. People come dressed fashionably to mix and mingle, so it gives a nice sense of what one aspect of Nairobi culture is like. Taxis and matatus (local mini-bus public transport) line up outside. The sound of the Matatu touts shouting for customers blends with the chatter and music coming from the bar, so if you stand outside you get an interesting blend of both worlds.
