Almost unbeleavable but true. The Eifel has a Geysir! Yes, this one is really special because of its process. It is not working by steaming hot water, the water is completely not hot, the whole thing is working by saturation with carbon dioxide and is similar to that what happens when someone shakes a bottle of mineral water or a bottle of champagner and opens it. An oversaturation of the carbon dioxide in water, which is oscillating between saturation and oversaturation periods. Someone can sitdown, on a nice stone circle, children playing around, wait for about 30 minutes, and the water comes up. I do not know if an other Geysir exists on this planet, which is using this process. If so it is very rare. The place Wallenborn, where time almost stood still over the last 50 years, can be easily reached from our flat by an about 3 hours walk through the wonderful forest using Google maps or other providers. A restaurant is located right next to it and a refreshment can be taken there for the way back.
