A bit of a schlep from Portland but a good turning around point for a trip to the gorge. Check the website for details. You can stop along the way at waterfalls, hydroelectric dams, and great viewpoints. Take the opportunity to drive on parts of the old Columbia River Highway.

A gem right here in The Dalles, Lewis and Clark expedition , incredible Native American artifacts and a wonderful gift shop and casual cafe. A beautiful building as well! Birds of prey live shows and theater in the spring and summer seasons. easy parking for cars and RVs.

Go on a Saturday early afternoon and see some falcons from their education program! They are beautiful and well loved birds and they're amazing to look at up close!

Such a great place to learn about the history of The Dalles and the Columbia Gorge. It's beautiful here and great views of the Columbia River Gorge.
