Hike, mountain bike, strole, swim, whitewater raft, paddleboard, kayak, canoe, watch clouds, forage (if you know what you're looking for). The james River Park System is a true gift in the Richmond Community. There are many access points to trails and the water. In the summer time there are epic riverside festivals, competitions and races!

Multiple access routes are provided to this park that runs throughout Richmond, including underneath the James River Bridge located next to Maymont Park. Toilets are available throughout the parks and trails, and a section on the south side of the James River provides spectacular views of downtown Richmond. There are 550 acres of land adjacent to the James River where you may fish (Virginia fishing license required), but following storm surges the water can be rough.
