The Marabi Club is the home of superb food and drink accompanied by fine live jazz performances. Visible from the street only by the discreet black canopy above a small metal door in Doornfontein, downtown Johannesburg, the Marabi Club harks back to a vibrant history. New York gave the world the Harlem Rennaisance, a flourishing black cultural and intellectual movement that saw an outpouring of artistic, literary and musical talent. Across the ocean Johannesburg’s Doornfontein’s slumyards, created in the wake of one of the world’s richest gold rushes, gave life to Marabi. A must visit while in Johannesburg!

Marabi is the name for the urban culture that emerged from the slum yards of 1920s and 1930s. The historic area in which The Marabi Club is located is the original home of Marabi and located in the basement of Maboneng’s Hallmark House boutique hotel, designed by star Ghanaian-British architect David Adjaye.

Awesome place to be, safe parking, security team waiting to take you into the restaurant and a car assistant will take your car to the parking. You get to chill at the bar for few minutes to have a taste and the waiter will then usher you to your table. Best quality, high class food and the best of Marabi/African jazz band will entertain you.
