Interesting site of a British Naval Fort during the time of the War of 1812. In summer costumed historical interpreters explain the site and guide you through. There is also a small museum on site.
Has a local theatre - an old spooner ship, restaurants and a local theatre. Also a beach area and walking trail.
Reconstruction of naval base which provided protection for British warships ships during the War of 1812. Tour the Dockyard, the Sailor's Barracks, Commanding Officers House, Assistant Surgeon's House, Naval Surveyor's House, James Keating House, Cemetery, and Officer's Corner or the full-scale replica ships. Experience hands on demonstrations during summer months such as quill pen writing, sailor's rope work, historic games and 19th century cooking. In October, the grounds are transformed into a haunted exhibit featuring hundreds of hand carved pumpkins. During winter months, enjoy the skate trails through the grounds. Can't skate? Rent a Fat Bike or snowshoes and go for a hike.
