Wonderful place to learn about Latvian castles: Business Hours Thursday – Sunday 10.00 – 18.00 The 12th century Latvian wooden castle was built by Agris Liepiņš based on specifications found in archeological materials. It is not the reconstruction of a specific castle, rather it is a collection of construction examples found in various parts of the Baltics, thus forming a prototype of a Baltic chieftain’s castle – an ideal construction, so to speak. Visitors can see residential areas with small cabins, potter and blacksmith workshops, reconstructed period garments and gain extensive information about life in Latvia in the late iron age. Average person spends at least 45 min here.
