Walt's is a Main Street fixture and our local grocer/butcher/sandwich shop. If you're a meat eater, you will love their sandwiches. Roast beef and turkey are made in-store. The reuben is outstanding. Grab some sandwiches and then have a picnic at the Founder's Park, located at the end of Coulter Street, where you'll find picnic tables and a beautiful view of the CT river. (Keep driving on the gravel road til you reach the park.)

Walt’s Market on Main St. in Old Saybrook is an excellent, and very traditional butcher shop and small grocery store. The meat and poultry at Walt’s are of the highest quality and the butchers are outstanding. The also have a good deli; special sandwiches every day at lunch; and selections of their store-made foods for take out dinners. Among other things, they make their own kielbasa.
