Tradition has it that this church, dedicated to the Archangel Raphael, is one of the oldest in Venice, supposedly having been founded in 416, or 650.

La chiesa sorge nella zona più antiche della città, tra le prime ad essere stabilmente abitate.andò distrutta in un incendio nel 899 e venne ricostruita, poi sempre per incendio nel 1106 e nel 1149
