The National Art School, in Forbes Street Darlinghurst, was once a gaol and has many interesting colonial buildings.

The old Darlinghurst Goal was converted to an Art School. I don't think you can sightsee the buildings but you can walk through the grounds and ponder. There is a coffee shop which has slightly more student friendly prices and you can sit in the shaded courtyard. Enter from Burton St.

Pop across the road into the National Art School - the former site for Darlinghurst Gaol. It's worth looking at the buildings alone, let alone the art!
