A stunning salt mine. Much more impressive than Wieliczka, yet frequently overlooked by tourist.
The history of salt extraction in the Bochnia region dates back to 3,500 years B.C. Salt was acquired by evaporating water from brine.
It now has the character of an underground town, unique excavations, chapels carved from rock salt, sculptures,centuries-old mining equipment. Can be explored on foot, by underground train, by boat.
