The Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Hassan (Arabic: مسجد ومدرسة السلطان حسن) is a monumental mosque and madrasa located in Salah al-Din Square in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 1356 and 1363 during the Bahri Mamluk period, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan. The mosque was considered remarkable for its massive size and innovative architectural components, and is still considered one of the most impressive historic monuments in Cairo today

Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan: This massive mosque & madrassa is located in the old Cairo. it is one of the largest mosques in the world covering an area of 7906 sq.m. & built during the Mamluk Islamic era. It is considered as a vision of Arabic artistry with an abundance of stalactite detailing & intricate arabesque features. The 26 meters high massive main doorway leads into a domed vestibule, beyond which are a small antechamber & a corridor leading into the ornate open court centered around an ablution fountain. From here you can enter in the Sultan’s mausoleum. This impressive mosque is an outstanding attraction of “Islamic Cairo”
