Take a drive down to Fort Myers and visit ECHO to take a Global Farm Tour or Appropriate Technology Village Tour.
Echo's sustainable food growing and farming techniques are developed and adopted worldwide to reduce hunger. Located straight east of Pine Island, just past I-75 highway, North Fort Myers, FL. (Allow plenty of drive time during high-season, to get through busy Cape Coral.)
Creative working farm with unique demonstrations, plants, and techniques useful to farmers and urban gardeners in developing countries. Seven settings featuring crops, techniques, and animals from around the world. Urban Garden features effective ways to grow crops where there is little or no soil. Anderson Appropriate Technology Center demonstrates, researches, and buildis tools and techniques that solve problems in food, water, and shelter for small-scale farmers around the world. Friends and I enjoyed our visit here. Plants and seeds for sale. My Moringa and Chaya trees are from here. Both have very nutritious leaves. $12.50 admission (1 hour from house)

Tour how this non-profit re-creates environments from around the world (Africa, South America, etc...) to develop solutions and teach locals in impoverish areas how to farm using resources they have (appropriate technologies) to solve hunger problems-- fascinating at this sustainability! Highly recommended. Tour options: Echo Global Farm Tour or Echo Appropriate Technology Village Tour *most tours are walking but ask for golf cart if special arrangements are needed for mobility*
