A spectacular stone structure in front of St. Mark's Cathedral featuring three lions' heads spouting water from their mouths. The fountain dates from the time when the Venetians occupied this coast - the period in history mainly responsible for the romantic Baroque appearance of the older parts of Makarska. This is where people used to come to get their supplies and indulge in a little juicy gossip along the way. In summer months this is where jazz bands perform.

The public water fountain was built in 1775 by Ioseppo Bisazzio on the southeast of St. Mark's Church. It is still used today for refreshment from the summer heat. The work is significant because of the coat-of-arms that is still used as the official symbol of the town of Makarska, which has been carved on its right side.
