Mauricio’s place was wonderful! Felicia hosted and is a gem of a person! They were very kind and I did not feel discriminated against at all for being queer or trans, they were great with pronouns and really respectful. It is very much a family friendly place — very peaceful, quiet, earlier bedtimes. It’s a bit of a walk to any of the sights, but it’s definitely a worthwhile place. It also functions a bit like a hostel, in that multiple people can book at once (private bedrooms, shared bathroom). Would fully recommend.

From start to finish, it was a great and insanely unique experience to stay in Marucio's house. Valapraiso is a one-of-a-kind city, and it's all so much better staying in homes like Mauricio's to give you the real feel of the place. It's located right above one of the historic ascensores (elevators), that lifts you from the chaotic center to an idylic neighborhood steaming with local vibe and with some of the best views of the hills and the port that you could imagine. Now remember, Valparaiso isn't Disneyworld, it's Bohemia with a capital B .. everywhere you go there will be graffiti, a bit of chaos, watch your step for the dog messes, and keep your eyes open at all times. It's a real, real port city. But Mauricio's house gives you the calmness you need after a wild day in the streets. will defintelyy be back !
