Stanzin's "Old Likkir Traditional Farm Stay" is a lovely homestay located about 50 km from Leh. We drove directly to the property upon arrival by flight. Since it’s at the same altitude as Leh, we used the first day to acclimatize and explored Likkir on the second day. The area is brimming with natural beauty, especially in August when the fields are lush and the glacial streams are crystal clear. In Likkir, you can visit the monastery, enjoy time in the fields, stroll around the village, and gaze at the stars. We were fortunate to see the Milky Way on both nights thanks to the exceptionally clear skies. Keep in mind that getting to Likkir is easiest by taxi or motorcycle and public transport is limited to twice a day. While there aren’t many shops or restaurants nearby, the home cooked meals (dinner and breakfast) were absolutely delicious. The room had everything a guest needs, and the family was warm and hospitable.

Wonderfull host, extremely well located and beautifull property. Awesome rooms , the photos did not do justice to the place . One has to experience the place to rate it . Awesome experience and lovely home cooked food. My place to go at Ladhak.

This was one of the most magical airbnb experiences our family has ever had-- beautiful surroundings, the most welcoming hosts, a truly incredible place to be. Stanzin and his family were so accommodating and took care of all our needs, which included helping us to hire a driver for a day of sightseeing in Leh, and setting us up with some local activities. While we were just coming off of a hectic period of travel and did not end up doing any intensive treks, I know that Stanzin would be an incredible guide and the area is absolutely stunning to explore. Spending time with Stanzin, Tomo and their family was one of the highlights of our time in India and we feel so grateful to have been able to experience life in their lovely corner of the world. We look forward to returning for a longer trip!

I had taken two rooms in Stanzin’s home for eight nights - for my use and that of my sister. Both rooms were lovely and spacious. Both had a sitting area with lovely views and an attached private bathroom with excellent hot water thanks to solar panels I believe.
The second room is accessed from within their home but this in no way affected my privacy.

Stanzin Tsomo Amo Norbu and lil Tanzin were such a joy to spend time with especially around dinner time. We chatted and exchanged views and they answered our many questions about life in Likir. Tsomo cooked us very delicious and varied Ladakhi breakfast and dinner daily. Stanzin was very generous with his time and showed us around the monastery and helped us with our day to day plans.
Likir village is peaceful and a haven for those who want quiet meditative walks ; for those who like to bird; and for those who like to find quiet places by the water to read and practise zen .
All in all a perfect holiday thanks to our hosts 🙏
