This is the experience of living in a redwood canyon, at home in a sustainable family cottage. Along with the mentioned dogs, ducks, chickens, I encountered deer (daily) and quail walking along the road. The interior is well-appointed and the bed & linens are lovely. The canyon is situated just down the road from Armstrong Redwood reserve and an easy drive to Guerneville. A perfect spot for you if you want peace and quiet.

We stayed here over the weekend and overall had a nice, simple experience. As described in the listing, this is humble and budget-friendly lodging. It is one room with a bathroom sink, toilet, and an outdoor shower. It is not boutique or high end, so if you are booking here you probably already know you are choosing something very basic. The pillows were not to my taste (a personal preference), and the outdoor shower is rustic, more camp style than polished. That being said, the host made the stay welcoming. He greeted us warmly, acknowledged our anniversary, answered our questions, and then gave us space. The dogs were sweet (Holly especially stole our hearts), and we loved the chickens and geese. If you are looking for a unique, simple and affordable place to stay and do not mind roughing it a little, this is a solid choice with a kind host and very charming animals.

I had a lovely stay at the cottage! The space was super cute, clean and had everything I needed for a three-night visit. I loved meeting Holly the dog and watching the small flock of chickens, geese and ducks in the yard. The location is very convenient to Guerneville and Armstrong Redwoods while also feeling tucked away in the woods. Highly recommended!

My partner and I were in town for a wedding and decided to book 2 nights at the Sweetwater Cottage. Although we didn’t spend a ton of time at the cottage itself, it was perfect for our needs - The entire space was clean, the bed was comfy, and the outdoor shower worked well. Brendan was a fantastic host and was very responsive to our messages. He even worked with us to get checked-in a bit early on the night we arrived. I would highly recommend checking out this stay if it fits your needs!
