juillet 2018Staying in one of Moe’s locations was not a smooth ride. Driving into Austin and about 10 minutes from the location we booked, we received a call from Moe about our booking, and informed us that the unit we reserved was unavailable due to a flood in the building. We are easy going and can roll with it, assuming he’s being up front and honest about everything, we know things can happen outside the host’s control. However after arriving and being informed the alternative unit wasn’t quite ready, we began to look through his reviews. The unit was bare bones, no table (kitchen or coffee), so eating was difficult without something to set your meal on, also only one hand towel and two bathroom towels, and no extra toilet paper, and an extremely uncomfortable bed, all of which were issues listed by previous guests, and could be overlooked, as inconvenient but livable. Next we saw two more reviews from the last year or so for his location stating they were told the same thing, (unit unavailable due to flooding). But the main amenity we wanted was the rooftop terrace at the location we originally paid for. None of this would have been much more than a minor frustration if it weren’t for the lack of communication from Moe once we arrived and he knew we were not going to cancel our stay. The place wasn’t ready for guests and I assume because we weren’t originally staying at this address, sheets were still in the dryer so the bed had to be made by us upon entry, and the couple of towels we were provided were still wet and in the washer. Moe offered us a refund of $30 for the inconvenience right before we arrived, but we checked out 4 days ago and still have not received the refund (edit, Airbnb has since intervened and gave us the refund promised because Moe was not responding to them either) and he has not responded to the multiple messages we have sent both through the app and by text. Finally I find it irritating to be charged a $50 cleaning fee when we had to finish the clean up for his last guests in the unit. Would not recommend any of his locations to others, as this has left us feeling that he was dishonest from day one.

juillet 2018Nothing about this Airbnb is luxury. First the communication is poor, we waited in the parking garage for almost an hour waiting to hear from our host to check in. Second the cleanliness is low, from extremely dirty dust fans, burnt out lightbulbs, broken hooks in the bathroom and almost no cooking supplies. Finally, the bed frame was broken, if you moved in the bed the mattress would slide of the slats to the floor. We had to remove the bed from the frame and fix it.
