This listing is for our smaller bedroom which sleeps two people. It is a recently renovated space with new ensuite shower room. This room has its own front door and is adjacent to our historic family home, in the beautiful village of Croscombe between Wells and Shepton Mallet. This room shares our conservatory as a sitting area. Please see the layout plan in the photos.
Our home is a 15C farmhouse in the village of Croscombe. We have bees, sheep, chickens, turkeys and ducks and sell our produce locally. Guests are welcome to buy any of our produce including cider, jams, marmalade, chutneys, cordials, beeswax polish, wool and free-range eggs. Opposite our home is the Village Green, which has picnic benches and can be used by guests who would rather sit outside than in the conservatory.
We're in a quiet English village with a beautiful church, pub and village shop. Nearby are the destination towns of Wells, Frome, Glastonbury and Shepton Mallet. The village of Croscombe is worth a visit in its own right; nestled in the Sheppey Valley it was founded in around 700AD it has a historic church with carved box pews and spectacular spire, several old mill buildings and walks with spectacular views over the village. We have a leaflet of a suggested walk around the village which takes in the majority of the notable buildings and are happy to advise those who would like to go for longer walks on good routes to take.

Lovely village nestled in a wooded valley and with a great community pub open early for breakfast, the daily newspaper and some friendly conversation. Homemade produce available to buy is tasty too.

The cabin is situated on our farm and on our quiet campsite. It is located in a quiet part of a 10 acre field and has beautiful views our the Mendip Hills. The cabin is compact but perfectly formed in having all the facilities you need for your stay including a decking which gives you the opportunity to sit and enjoy the birdsong whilst breakfasting. We don't have wi fi but do have excellent 4G with most providers . We are close to Cheddar, Wells, Bath, Longleat and many other exciting places.
The cabin has everything you'll need for your stay. And across the mown path in the field over the style and along the footpath you'll find the pub Oakhill Inn, which provides excellent food and you'll get 10% discount on food and drink whilst you stay with us. If you are planning on eating at The Oakhill Inn it’s best to book to avoid disappointment.
Our neighbourhood is rural and on the edge of the village the location of the cabin is peaceful.
  • Charlotte was the perfect host. Gert Lushing was exceptionally clean and the bed super comfy. We had a lovely relaxing few days staying there for the Glastonbury Festival. We would love to return again in the future!

    Laura & Mark2019-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was stunning, spacious and very comfortable. Charlotte was very helpful, responsive and kind. Details and decor were very thought through and made the cabin cozy, and the addition of chocolate was very sweet. Would 100% recommend this cabin and would definitely stay in future.

    Natalia2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was so peaceful on a lovely farm field location with amazing countryside vibes. The cabin was so comfy and had everything we needed for a welcoming stay. Charlotte was very accommodating and her recommendation of the Oakhill Inn Pub was a great one as the food was delicious! We went back twice! I recommend anyone staying here, very satisfied.

    Tia2019-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely little cabin..hosts were lovely. Nice little touches like hot water bottles, ketchup, mayo, biscuits, locally made fudge. Everything including scissors! Books, scrabble. Shower was lovely and hot. Lovely kitchen with everything you could need. Those little touches were little bit of home from home. Flowers on the deck...PERFICK! If you want something a little different this is a lovely hideaway. Definitely going back!

    Tracey 2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great couple of nights despite some wet weather. Cabin was lovely and cosy, a great little escape from the world. We did some birdwatching (the incredible starling murmurations at RSPB ham wall), visited museums when it rained and of course had some cider. Mandy largely left us to it, but gave suggestions when we needed them

    Cerian2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • From reading lots of fabulous reviews of Amanda's place, it totally lived up to my expectations. Peaceful, unique, cosy & with beautiful views. I really enjoyed my cups of tea sat on the decking in the sunshine!

    Josephine2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing place to stay! How romantic your own cabin in beautiful Somerset. The cabin is brand new and has got everything you need. Mandy is a wonderful host and you can see that she likes hosting because of the nice details, its all very clean and nicely decorated. It is located centrally in the region, so you can easily visit the surroundings, Bath, Bristol, Exeter or as I did even drive up to Lands End. It's easy to find and not that far a drive from London. I would definitely book it again!

    Tjitte2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little cabin with field view. Perfect for a romantic get away. Great communication from Mandy and met us on arrival to ensure we were all set. Lots of local places to explore around Somerset. Would definitely recommend!!

A cosy ensuite double room with a comfy king size bed, in a large modern townhouse on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet. Continental breakfast and cereals are provided and there is a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We are 15 minutes walk, from the town centre and shops and there are also pubs and restaurants and Kilver Court Designer Village close by. We are 5 minutes drive from the Bath and West Showground, 12 from Wells, 30 from Bath, and 45 from Bristol.
Comfortable King size bedroom with ensuite shower, with towels and toiletries. In the room is a small fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Continental breakfast and cereals are provided in the dining area of the kitchen.
Our house is in a quiet, well appointed estate on former Crown Estates farmland belonging to the Duchy of Cornwall. There is a lovely park close by and we are surrounded by farmland, hills and woodland, and there are numerous very pleasant walks in the area. Shepton Mallet is an ancient market town and is the nearest town to the Glastonbury Festival site. We are also a five minute drive to the Bath and West Showground, which hosts numerous events such as antiques fairs, festivals and county shows.
  • A lovely, very clean and comfy room. Communication was excellent and the breakfast generous. We were warmly welcomed but also given lots of privacy. Highly recommended.

  • Alex and Graeme went above and beyond to provide a stylish, clean space with an exceptionally comfortable bed and high quality continental breakfast included in the price. I really appreciated the extra touches: 2 pillows and 2 towels per guest, tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits in the room on arrival, hair dryer and cushions on the bed!

    Lucy2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay here on our way to the South West. Very clean and comfortable, with great coffee.

  • Absolutely fantastic stay at Alex and Graeme’s place. Friendly, warm welcome and great morning coffee conversation. The room was fantastic, comfortable and clean. The bed was heavenly! Would definitely recommend and if I’m ever in Shepton Mallet again I will definitely be booking to stay again :)

  • Alex & Graeme's place is very nice! We really felt at home there, the bedroom and the private bathroom were perfectly clean! Alex welcomed us when we arrived (even if we arrived late at 9.30pm), and the following morning he talked to us and he was very nice and smiling and welcoming, he gave us any kind of food and drink for the morning (milk, coffee, tea, bread, yoghurt, fruits, cereals, many kinds of jam and even some salted food)! He really did everything he could to make us feel at home! Highly recommended

An 18th-century cottage in a Mendip village that once had its own brewery and railway. It's close enough for trips to Bath, to Wells, Glastonbury and attractions such as Cheddar Gorge. I'm also close to the Bath & West Showground, to Vobster Dive Quay, and to the award-winning designer outlet at Kilver Court. There's a great pub at the end of the road with good food and log fires.
Bathroom – shared with host – has a rain shower and roll-top bath. The house has old beams, wooden floors and colourful Moroccan lamps. The bedroom is a light and airy room with a high ceiling. There's a comfortable small double (4ft) sofa bed and a full-size double bed on a mezzanine. Climb the fixed ladder to bed and then gaze up at the stars through the window. The space is roomy enough for a couple + one, or for two guests who want a bed each. There is a desk, WiFi, TV and DVD player.
Eating: The Oakhill Inn is just a 5-minute walk away. Good food with local produce, plus pizzas. Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Wells Cathedral, Bath, Longleat and Stourhead are all near by – not all of them accessible by public transport.
  • Excellent accueil et excellente communication, nous ne pouvons que recommander cette adresse

    Françoise2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie and Jim were absolutely fantastic and their home is a beautiful place to stay. They repeatedly went out of their way to improve my stay, and are also immensely friendly and hospitable. I can't recommend them enough!

    Leo2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline is a wonderful host & her cottage is a delightful & comfortable place to stay. Delicious breakfast too!

    Carl2019-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic accommodation. Jackie was warm and welcoming, willing to cater for my every whim. I was able to choose between the loft bed or the sofa bed and even changed my mind half way. The loft bed is very comfortable and cosy with an area for your water and charging your phone but needing frequent trips to the facilities made it a bit inconvenient for me ;-) A well lit street, side lights left on in the house so I could come and go as I wished with my own key. Friendly but not intrusive, really enjoyed my stay. Thankyou Jackie. A lovely airy room and tastefully decorated. Lovely bathroom with a power shower. I stayed for 3 nights and it was exceedingly good value for money.

    Julie2018-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • A delightfully historic cottage, immaculately clean and most generous and friendly host.

    Rosemary2019-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Jacqueline is a warm and generous host. Her home is an absolute jewel, the room is quiet and cosy, and the breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed talking to Jacqueline, learning about the area. We had a very good meal at the Oakhill Arms and slept incredibly well in the loft. The area is fantastic and Wells is a real gem.

    Lisa2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jackie and Jim are absolutely fabulous hosts and we had such a fantastic stay, myself and a friend of mine were down in Somerset for canine massage course, flying over from Dublin. We had problem with public transport from the airport as there are no real direct connections to where our course was, Jackie was so nice she collected us from the airport for very small fee what was super nice. The house is absolutely fantastic, clean, great setting and just incredibly beautiful with lots of character. Jackie showed us how to get to the course from her place, even offered to bring us to the shop, Jim made us coffee in the afternoon. I mentioned I am vegan and Jackie catered for that for breakfast (non diary butter, almond milk) which was just great! We enjoyed our stay so much and would only recommend to stay with Jackie and Jim!

    Katarína2017-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a short but wonderful night at Jacqueline‘s beautiful cottage, wonderful not only because of the comfortable beds but also the lovely decor everywhere. The next day was also brightened by the nice suggestions she made which led us to some very interesting and scenic places, but before leaving we had the chance to enjoy her fantastic homemade breakfast. All in all a great stay and we will definitely come back as soon as possible. (This was written by my daughter Marisa, but I totally agree with her. Only thing I want to add is: Jaqueline is such a nice and interesting person that I was really sad we had to leave so soon.)

  • Really nice stay, loved the cottage and the vibe, I found the bed really comfortable and good water pressure in the shower, will definitely come back when I'm working in the area again.

  • A lovely cottage in the heart of Shepton Mallet, only a short walk from the town centre. It was perfect for what we needed and wouldn't hesitate to book the property again!

  • This was my second stay at Gina’s place and it was cosy (but spacious!) as usual, comfy bed, she has Netflix and also she is lightning fast to respond to messages!! Have already booked my next stay for my next time working in the area.

    Ruby2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay in Gina's home which she has made very cosy and welcoming. The cottage is a short walk to Shepton town centre and was spacious inside but with a homely feel. We found the bed too soft and quite small but otherwise the cottage was nice.

    Sarah2019-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great quiet location, ideal for visits to Wells and Glastonbury. Cosy warm cottage. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

    Sarah2019-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was here whilst attending a Charles Dowding No Dig Organic Gardening course which is 6 miles from this cottage and it was perfect for that. So many good things to say about Gina’s lovely cottage! It’s a home from home. Has everything you need plus bonus Netflix, PlayStation and WiFi. Maybe more of a bonus is magnificent water pressure and efficient central heating! It was warm and cozy. Comfy for a day in reading great sofa and chairs. Cozy blankets. Interesting collection of vegan cookery and healthy eating books! Hot water bottles, not that I needed them also a leccy blanket. Windows opened easy not draughty at all. Easy access with key box. Everything you need in the kitchen. I could stay here weeks and be happy. Ooo beautiful stair case too with exposed stone wall. A really chilled out vibe. Comfy double bed. Quiet at night. Parking on street not a problem. Gina responded very quickly to my every need. Would def not hesitate to go back!

  • The Drey is a great little place for a weekend away. Had everything you need to self cater and a log burner for colder nights. Very comfortable bed.

  • The Drey was an absolute treat. Lisa had added so many thoughtful touches which really made me feel so welcome. I only stayed for 2 nights but left feeling totally refreshed & revitalised! Such a special place. If you're searching for somewhere to stay in Somerset, look no further!

  • We had a great 3 night stay. Lovely touches with Gluten Free cake and breakfast. The log burner made it cosy. 5 stars

  • Lovely little hideaway hidden amongst the trees. Very handy location for travelling to the local places of interest. Really enjoyed the home baked cake that Lisa made us and the produce to make a cooked breakfast was fantastic.

    Kirsten2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The drey is a beautiful little house. The views from the bedroom/decking are lovely and you would never guess you were so close to town. It's a shame we only stayed one night. Lisa is a great host and provided everything we could need, including a high chair, breakfast and a cake! We would definetly stay again.

My house is on the outskirts of Shepton Mallet - next to fields overlooking Glastonbury Tor in the distance. The house has all mod cons - wi-fi, kitchen, living room, bathroom, nice conservatory, small sunny garden and parking space. I have one double room or one single room (both include breakfast). Please note my house is NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. Nearby attractions include Glastonbury itself, Wells Cathedral, Street and Clarks Village shopping outlets. The city of Bath is 20mins drive away and Bristol is 40mins. There are also good local bus and train services - National Express coaches stop in Shepton. The nearest train station is Castle Cary (for London connections and elsewhere). I can pick up/drop off from this station very easily. I enjoy travelling and therefore love to meet and accommodate people from all over the world. I can speak French and a little Italian and my cooking is edible!

  • My girlfriend and I wanted a place to stay so that we might explore nearby Glastonbury and jany's room fitted the bill perfectly! As a host Jany was extremely accommodating; suggesting good places to go for a meal and helping with reservations as well as superbly drawn and accurate maps! We were offered a simple but varied breakfast in the morning and Jany struck a perfect balance of hosting without intruding on our own plans. The room itself is extremely comfortable and clean and overall our stay was very enjoyable and would certainly go back next time - highly recommended!

  • Great host, as helpful as it gets, gave me a lift to an evening event, posted back something I left behind. Room clean & sunny, comfy bed. I'll be staying again

    Mary2014-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time staying with Jany. We came to visit Glastonbury, which is only about 20 minutes away, and on Jany's advice also took in Wells Cathedral, which was splendid. Jany has a lovely little house, very comfortable. She is a very interesting woman, well travelled, a pleasure to chat with, and super helpful with suggestions of where to go and how to get there. If you are going to the Glastonbury Festival and can possibly get a booking with Jany this is ideal. Highly recommended.

The Old Coach House is of 19th century origins, among the many attributes of this cottage is the excellent natural light that pervades all the rooms.
This beautiful Coach House has an abundance of space for a modern family, the lounge incorporates a kitchen and dining area with stairway access to the ensuite loft bedroom which has stunning views of the Glastonbury Festival Grounds. The lounge also has double doors opening into the main bedroom which has its own snug and ensuite shower room. There is plenty of parking at the top of the drive, guests are also allowed to park in front of the house. Guests are allowed access to the 3 acres of land adorning the building.
The delightful village of Pilton lies in the Mendip Hills, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Pilton is situated in a sheltered valley with stunning views. There is a village pub, village hall, Manor House and Tithe Barn. The village also hosts the ever popular Glastonbury Festival. Neighbouring places include Shepton Mallet (Tesco/Aldi Grocery Shopping) Wells (Cathedral and weekly markets), and Glastonbury(Tor). A major highlight to our guests is that the villagers are very friendly and inclusive.

A cozy cottage located in the heart of Pilton - home of The Glastonbury Festival. Lovely walks and a good pub in the village. Close to the Cathedral city of Wells and the 'alternative' town of Glastonbury. Bath and and Bristol are both within an hours drive. The cottage is over 200 years old has an Aga, wood burner , pretty views and a lovely garden.
Amazing walks, friendly social village with local pub.
  • Rebecca was a wonderful host - very welcoming and friendly. A lovely, comfortable room, spotlessly clean and with lots of personal touches making it feel very welcoming. Lovely to have a bathroom for my own use too (great shower). Had a wonderful night's sleep with no disturbances (church bells seem to only chime during the day). Lovely breakfast too with choices offered by Rebecca. Pilton is a beautiful village - my only hiccup was that I found it a little difficult to navigate due to its very interesting but narrow and windy streets! - found it easiest to park 1st, then find the B&B. Would happily stay here again.

    Carol2017-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Communication with Rebecca was excellent. I am looking forward to rebooking as I had to cancel at the very last minute when I became ill. Rebecca was very understanding.

    Carolyn2018-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • Rebecca's place is indeed cosy, comfortable and welcoming, and Rebecca herself was a great host. Delicious breakfasts! I was struck by how beautifully decorated her place is.

    Sarah2017-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a marvellous setting in the village and the interior is as you would expect, cosy and comfortably furnished. Rebecca makes you welcome immediately on arrival and is a fount of knowledge on the local area. We had accidently timed our stay when local band The Model Folk were playing at her local, The Crown Inn, and our Saturday evening there with the friendly crowd, was a bonus treat. And rising a little later than we meant to on Sunday morning Rebecca was there with a satisfying breakfast. Thanks Rebecca. And Wells was one of the most exquisite cathedral cities we have ever seen.

    Michael2018-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful! Rebecca was so welcoming and lovely. The house is gorgeous, old and quaint with pretty interiors. The bedroom although quite small was clean, and perfect with our own bathroom, great shower, and lovely view of the church opposite, (no church bells). Breakfast really good with as much tea, toast, fruit as we wanted. Rebecca really made us feel at home, lovely lady, I hope to stay there again.

    Pauline2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • We booked Rebecca's lovely cottage as our friends were getting married in the area. Even before booking, Rebecca was extremely helpful in advising about the local area, and how close we were to everything which put my mind at rest as we were unfamiliar with the village. We had an amazing weekend at Stone Cottage and Rebecca's hospitality was second to none - this was one of the best Air BnB experiences we've ever had. The room was lovely, with tea and coffee facilities on hand, we also had use of our own private bathroom which was wonderful. We were very fortunate with the weather and Rebecca provided us with a delicious breakfast both mornings where we were able to sit outside in her gorgeous garden and enjoy a homemade breakfast. Rebecca was a fantastic host - great humour, very friendly and inviting and we would happily book to stay in her cottage again.

    Leanne2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for an idyllic stay in the area Rebecca's cottage is perfect.

    Byron2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about the cottage. Arrived late at night and Rebecca just left the door unlocked and prepared vegan breakfast for us which we didn’t expect. The house is friendly and clean and we would definitely recommend staying at this beautiful place. Thank you again, Rebecca!

Located near the historical cathedral city, Wells, this comfortable self contained studio cabin is perfect for long or short stays.
  • A cute and cozy cabin, very quiet and seemingly miles away from everything but in reality just a short walk to town! The heater kept the cabin warm and cozy! Nice garden area for walking our small dog. Perfect for two people.

  • A truly tranquil, quiet location in an amazing location. The cabin has a lot of thoughtful touches to make you feel at home. Perfect for exploring the Mendips and surrounding area. The local pub, The George, has great food and friendly staff. It is only 5 minutes walk down the hill, but about 10 minutes back up, but worth it. Cathy and her husband were excellent hosts. So very friendly. We will visit again one day.

    Peter2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing and quirky place, probably the best we've ever stayed at. The cabin is spacious, has all the mod cons and a powerful shower. And it has great pieces of antique furniture which give it a better countryside feel In the middle of the hills, it has a pub at walking distance with good food and great beer and cider. There's green everywhere and lots of birds, and Cathy's dog is super friendly. Wells and Glastobury town are 20 mins away and in 30mins you're in Cheddar Gorge. Beautiful countryside and comfortable stay, what's not to like? Did I mention the bed is huge and incredibly confy!! Highly recommend this place and if you like having a chat, I highly recommend Cathy!! We'll be back

    Monica2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely cabin set in idylic surroundings. The accomodation was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Our hosts were welcoming and offered us the use of pool, tennis courts and trampoline for the duration of our stay. The village of Croscombe was lovely and has a really nice child friendly local pub with good food! This is a great location to explore the surrounding Somerset sights from, but also offers peaceful surroundings to relax in! Very highly recommended!

We would just like to thank Gillian personally for being such an incredible host

  • Gillian, her cottage and Berti the dog are wonderful. Communication beforehand was swift and clear. On arrival we were offered tea, coffee, biscuits and a most delicious lemon drizzle cake. Gillian is an attentive and diligent host. The room and en-suite were sparkling clean. Bottled water and dishes with sweets were a lovely touch. The breakfast was the finest I have experienced at any B&B. Gillian even offered to take us into nearby Wells which we were visiting rather than use the bus service. All in all quite simply the best B&B I have ever been to. Thank you

  • My son and l spent the night here prior to visiting the Paul Nicholl's stables so this location was very convenient. Elizabeth was an excellent hostess. She showed us to our tastefully decorated room on the top floor, demonstrated how to use the coffee maker and shower etc. She gave us literature on local places to eat and even escorted us part of the way to ensure we didn't get lost! The beds were very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep. The bathroom was spotless and next to the bedroom. It was well equipped with all the necessary toiletries. There was ample parking space along the side of the house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate in recommending this B&B.

  • Amazing hosts, very accommodating, and staying here felt like we were part of the family and at home.

  • Taya was great, she responded immediately to a last minute booking request and was really helpful when we got lost! Her home is immaculate, the bed is very comfortable lovely soft towels. She made us feel really welcome and we couldn’t have asked for more. Her home is set in the lovely countryside but is also really close to Shepton Mallet town, just a 10 minute walk and you reach the centre, we walked in to have an evening meal. A good place to base yourself if you are exploring Somerset and the surrounding area.

  • Taya is a very friendly and helpful person. That was a very comfortable stay. Highly recommended.

  • Taya is kind person and accepted us in late evening!

    Cristian2019-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Check in went smoothly although we weren’t actually able to get in until quite late as the hosts were out. Was easy to find but quite far from the centre of Shepton Mallet so a long walk if you want to go for dinner in the evening. The host was welcoming and the room was quite clean (apart from a few cobwebs!) but there is not really enough space for a double bed. We found it quite awkward getting in and out of bed as the bed is wedged in against the wall. Also only one power socket which is awkwardly positioned and no bedside lamp. The bathroom was fine but a bit awkward to share between four with the hosts. This place is probably OK for a single person but not a proper double room.

Our cottage, set in the grounds of our home, is close to the cities of Bath and Wells as well as Bristol airport, Castle Cary station, Glastonbury, Bath and West show, Babington House and several schools including Downside, All Hallows , Wells Cathedral and Millfield . We are situated on the edge of the Mendip hills just a walk away. The cottage is full of character and laid out over three floors. My place is great for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and families (with kids).
The cottage has wonderful views over the gardens and is full of character.
Close to several great pubs including the Talbot in Mells and the Holcombe Inn.

All in all fantastic stay. Thanks!

This listing is for up to 6 people split over two recently renovated bedrooms both with new en-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom sleeps up to 4 people and is on the ground floor of our historic family home. The second bedroom sleeps two and is separate from the main house, with its own front door. Both rooms share our conservatory as a sitting area.
The village of Croscombe is worth a visit in its own right; nestled in the Sheppey Valley it was founded in around 700AD it has a historic church with carved box pews and spectacular spire, several old mill buildings and walks with lovely views over the village. We have a leaflet of a suggested walk around the village which takes in the majority of the notable buildings and are happy to advise those who would like to go for longer walks on good routes to take.

  • Clean and lovely place. Great Host.

    Lorena2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • Nicolas welcome was very warm and nothing was too much trouble.. even hoovered up a stray spider for us! Beautiful village location with easy parking. The pub down the road was a fantastic recommendation with great food and wonderful service. If you’re staying with children just double check the room layout with Nicola as one of the rooms is external to the main room with bathroom. Worked for us as husband stayed in that particular room while my son and I stayed in the other. Overall fantastic stay.

There is a warm welcome waiting for you in my charming Georgian home in the historic centre of the market town of Shepton Mallet. Price is for one double room on the second floor with your own shower room and includes a scrumptious continental breakfast. I have 2 further bedrooms if required at £30 per person per night but only let these to members of your party so that the whole group have exclusive use of the shower room on the second floor. Come and stay I am sure you will enjoy it.
A pretty house, lovingly furnished and made into a beautiful, quirky home full of original art waiting to welcome you. The main (blue one) double bedroom is on the second floor and from this there is a further staircase leading to the double room created in the attic space (this room has limited head height but it is the one everyone falls in love with) I also have another bedroom on the second floor which is suitable for one adult or two children. I only take a booking from one set of friends or family so that you have exclusive use of the second floor and other spaces in the house, plus my full attention! There is a shower room on the second floor for the sole use of guests. The space is really good for a family or a group of friends enjoying the delights of this part of the West Country. If you book a room then I take no further bookings during your stay so that you have your own spaces.
Shepton Mallet is a small market town with an interesting collection of individual shops and cafes and is situated in the heart of the best of everything that Somerset has to offer. 4 miles from Wells, 8 miles from Cheddar gorge and caves and 15 miles from Bath, 22 miles from Bristol. 6 National Trust properties within an hour and Longleat 20 minutes away by car. We are within minutes of the Bath and West showground and the increasingly popular Hauser and Werth international art gallery is 20 minutes away by car. Stonehenge and the south coast of Dorset at Lyme Regis are just over and hour away and the Somerset coast at Sand Bay is 45 minutes away. In the winter it is a must to come and see the starling murmurations over the Somerset Levels and the largest Electric Carnival in Europe in November. There are also many other lovely market towns to explore and beautiful countryside, canals, rivers and lakes all around to explore. I am always happy to help you with ideas and details to make your visit a real joy.
  • Our stay with Trisha was fantastic, we received a very warm welcome and she was a perfect host throughout. She made some recommendations for things in the area to do and see which was very useful. We had a lovely chat about our interests in art and would have liked to get to know Trisha more. The room was lovely and comfortable with all the facilities and essentials we would have wanted. The breakfast provided exceeded expectations and was delicious, it was the perfect start to the day. The house is in a great location just minutes from shops and the town centre. It was a fabulous stay, I would recommend Trisha's home to anyone wishing to stay in the area and would be more than happy to stay again myself.

    Tessa2015-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • As a family of 5 introverts we weren't sure how renting rooms would go. Staying with Trisha turned out to be a highlight of our trip. Her home is a work of art, her hospitality can only be described as above and beyond, and Trisha is truly a kindred spirit--thank you for everything!

    Laura2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home - Trisha is very welcoming and considerate. Had a really great stay!

  • We had a wonderful stay. It is not possible to be a more welcoming hostess than Trisha. Beautiful home, right at the centre of Shepton Mallet, a lovely town to stay. We were sad to go but we'd love to return. Thank you!

  • We had an amazing time at Trisha’s cozy house! The room was spacious and charming, we really enjoyed a nice cup of tea after the long day at the Glastonbury Festival every night and woke up looking forward to her delicious breakfast and friendly smile every morning. She’s a great host. We will definitely come back to her magical place! Thank you Trisha!

  • Trisha ist eine sehr herzliche Gastgeberin und versucht alles, um den Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu machen. Das liebevolle Frühstück und die Zimmer sind perfekt für eine gute Erholung. Vielen Dank

    Monika2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great place in a cute town! Trisha was very welcoming (even to our son who was exhausted upon arrival and let the whole neighborhood know). Our daughter, who is usually quite shy, opened up to Trisha immediately. Her recommendations to adjust the order of our local visits were very helpful as well.

    Kate2016-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Trisha's home for 3 days and nights was an absolute delight, one of the highlights of our 10-day trip to England and the West Country. The accommodations were ideal--private, spacious, tasteful, interesting. The location--basically in the center of Shepton Mallet--meant we could easily walk to restaurants and shops as well as stroll around the village to unwind after "seeing the sights." But more importantly, by the time we departed we felt we had actually made a close friend and have plans (we hope) to lay eyes on each other again in a year when Trish and her granddaughter come to NYC for a visit. Trisha also shared with us many of the "secrets" she had learned from living in Somerset for many years--the special pathway through a meadow to best approach Wells cathedral, a wonderful way to spend 4-5 hours hiking at Exmoor, an unusual place to go to for tea after the Exmoor hike, a place that was also just 500 yards from the Bristol Channel so we could add that experience to the wildness of the moors, her favorite local pub for good food and company, etc., etc. You will not go wrong if you choose this listing!

    Rhys2018-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning view, was a tad windy but the might shepherds hut put up a good fight - slept perfectly! Didn't have the opportunity to meet Karen, however her husband Nick & Tiger the dog were on hand to help out and made me feel welcome on my arrival.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed the experience of staying in a shepherd s hut! It's a way of getting back to nature but more comfortable than camping. Karen has thought of everything with lots of lovely touches! Beautiful horses , a cute dog and making a campfire add to the fun. The view is amazing so don't leave without sitting on the steps with a cuppa. Karen and Nick are great hosts, genuinely nice people with lots of local information.

    Isobel2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little getaway! Karen and her family were great hosts and really welcoming! And their lovely cocker spaniel Tigger was so friendly! The location is easy to find but feels like you’re miles away from everything! Amazing views looking over Wells! The hut was very clean and comfortable with lots of candles for light and a fire to keep you warm! No electricity which was so nice to go back to basics! We just wish we’d taken a camera for when our phones ran out of battery as the views were incredible! We sat out under the stars and lit a fire in the evening and toasted marshmallows! Popped into Wells for dinner which was only ten minutes away! (Good to visit if you’re a Hot Fuzz fan!) We cooked breakfast on the fire in the morning and Karen kindly gave us some eggs from her chickens! The toilet is in a separate little hut and was clean and not a problem! (As someone who is terrified of spiders, I was apprehensive, but it was fine!) Definitely a real get away from everything and an experience to be had! Perfect for a one night stay! Thank you!

  • The Apartment is lovely and clean, literally in the middle of Shepton Mallet and is quite spacious. Ruth is top class and very helpful if you need it. Would definitely stay again.

    Mark2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth’s suite is wonderful! The entrance is hidden away in a private courtyard and you’re surrounded by flowers as you approach the front door. It’s a very comfortable and spacious inside. Lots of daylight through the big windows and skylight in the bedroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped and it was very handy having the use of a washing machine. We were very happy with our stay here!

    Allison2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth was very kind and helpful. The property was as described and very comfortable and warm

    Huw2016-12-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth was very helpful and flexible. The place was spotless, charming and well kitted out. I stayed over Christmas and I was delighted with the extra touches Ruth had added... a little Christmas tree with lights and a few other decorations. I would definitely recommend and go back. My only warning would be about the steps and stairs. Not a problem for me but if you have mobility issues or need to get to the bathroom quickly in the night, you might find the layout a bit tricky.

    Alice2017-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Much enjoyed having the centre of town and the countryside available all at once. Ruth is a good host and also does a very nice pizza!

    Michael2017-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Shepton Mallet was a great location for exploring the Mendip Hills, Wells and surrounding areas. Ruth's apartment is much more spacious than we expected and had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The courtyard garden outside was an added bonus to while away the evening!

    Richard2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Ruth was very nice and friendly from the offset. We weren't there most of the time. But would quite happily tell our friends about this place

    Sharon2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • As this was my second stay I pretty well knew the ropes. Ruth is easy to get hold of and always helpful. Shepton Mallet is a pleasant country town with at least two supermarkets, so it is easy to get supplies and there is a nice Italian restaurant within walking distance. It is a beautiful part of the country with many lovely walks. Ruth supplies a good selection of maps and brochures to help plan one's day,

Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, one of these being en suite, and there is plenty of room outside as the barn is set on a small private estate, with the additional attraction of some very nosey alpacas. A paddock can even be provided for visiting horses with more details on stabling available on request. Primrose is approached via a secluded and stunning tree-lined private drive. Although the barn is tucked away in the beautiful and relaxing Somerset countryside, it is in fact, only two miles from the historic market town of Shepton Mallet, five miles from the beautiful medieval city of Wells and within ten minutes drive to Bath park and ride service. In addition, it is close to the Royal Bath and West Showground and is also conveniently located for the world-famous Glastonbury music festival. This really is a perfect location to visit everything that is on offer in the great area of the south west of England.

  • Lovely warm welcome to a beautiful house. Hatty is very accommodating and makes every effort to make you feel welcome. Spotless rooms. You won’t be disappointed.

  • My husband and I stayed in the double room at Hatty's place for one night in January. It was very comfortable, warm and cozy. Ideal location for sightseeing in the area and would also be perfect for families as the two bedrooms are separated by a nice living space with a TV. Very nice host, great value, we would definitely recommend this accommodation.
