Jervaulx Abbey is one of the oldest monastries in the country. You can still get an understanding of how this Abbey worked. There is also a tea room by the Abbey.

Lovely walk along the river from the Abbey car park to The Cover Bridge Inn in East Witton. Further along the road is The Blue Lion, another excellent pub.

Privately owned and with an honesty box for visitors this abbey is a magical and for many a spiritual site of great beauty.
